Biography
Before forming Krutoy Law, P.C., Evan Krutoy served as a prosecutor at the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office for over 20 years. During his career, Evan handled thousands of cases including many of the Office’s most high-profile homicide and rape cases.
Evan served as Acting Deputy Bureau Chief of the Sex Crimes Unit, and many of Evan’s sex crimes investigations involved large entities including the Boy Scouts of America as well as multiple private schools in the New York City area. During his tenure as a trial attorney, Evan was appointed Senior Trial Counsel by then District Attorney Robert M. Morgenthau for his excellence in the courtroom.
Evan was later appointed as Special Counsel for Projects and Policy to District Attorney Cyrus R. Vance, Jr. and headed a number of the Office’s criminal justice initiatives. In this capacity, Evan worked with numerous governmental agencies with the goal of positively impacting the criminal justice involved population. During his tenure as Special Counsel, Evan led a program geared to divert teenage defendants out of jail and into community programs. Evan was also appointed Executive Director of the DANY Academy, the educational arm of the District Attorney’s Office, where he supervised all of the Office’s training programs.
Evan is an adjunct professor at the New York University School of Law where he teaches an externship involving the criminal justice system.
Evan received his J.D. cum laude from Boston University School of Law in 1994.
Evan received a B.A. from University of Pennsylvania in 1991.
